It's the first semester of the first year in college. More specifically, it's more like the time from when school starts through the Thanksgiving break. This is statistically the most likely time for women to be sexually assaulted on campus. It's claimed that upwards of 50% of all sexual assaults recorded for the year happen during this timeframe.
And it's not just in the U.S. In Australia, Orientation Week is the start of campus life at university which typically runs during the last week of February and the first couple of days in March.
